Ruby-purplish. Slightly vegetal nose (green pepper, etc.) with red berry notes. Simple and straightforward taste, soft on the palate with a good core of fruit. Drink now. Worth its price.
I have always been a big fan of Nigl. Light green yellow in colour, the crisp personality of the wine is layered with banana, apples, grapefruit, herbs and spice. There is very good length and a medium body. Pair this with herb-crusted halibut, or grilled pork chops with asparagus, in a hollandaise sauce.
The perfume of this medium-bodied Syrah is a mélange of hickory, pepper, herbs, cassis, coconut, smoke and raspberry. It is elegant with soft tannins and very good length. Marinate some lamb chops in garlic and rosemary, hit the grill until medium-rare, and enjoy the pairing.
Pale yellow colour. This 100% Godello, a Spanish native variety, has a pear/apple nose with hints of minerality and ginger. Tender acidity in a soft mouthfeel; extra zest in the finish from mild bitterness. Drink now.
Nice mix of red fruits, kirsch and a floral touch. Full-bodied and intense, yet it remains soft in texture as the slightly rough tannins are well wrapped in fruity extract. Finish is a tad warm; overall a great quality red from a hot climate.
This shows a nose of cherry, violets, minerals, cranberry and nicely integrated spice notes. I like the savoury and tart cherry, bramble and peppery notes on the palate all lifted by bright acidity and carried by fine tannins through the finish.
This beer is all about the haze, pouring a juicy fluorescent orange with a mousse- and latte-like foam. The sip starts off with papaya and guava moving to pineapple and a seedy passion fruit centre. A low but persistent orange-rind bitterness balances the sip. This hazy brew is tough to find — you can only buy it at some wine and beer stores in Illinois, but it is worth the hunt as it won gold at the 2018 Great American Beer Festival for Hazy, Juicy IPAs.
