Clear medium-deep brass colour. Nose features apricot, peach and banana aromas with a light touch of oak. Very full-bodied with luscious dried peach, apple and honey flavours, but completely dry. A slight bitterness on the long finish. A white wine for red wine drinkers.
Deep orange amber colour with complex aromas of sherried fruit, caramel, piquant spice and a whiff of herb. Rich, smooth, fruity sweetness through mid-palate with emphatically dry dark-chocolate bitterness on the finish.
From one of the south Okanagan’s rising stars. Whole bunch-pressed primary fermentation, back blended with the previous vintage of Chardonnay. Pale salmon in the glass, floral perfume; some strawberry on top before red fruit and slightly chalky palate through a well-textured finish.
The ginger is subtle at first, but builds on the palate with each additional sip. Great spice and real ginger flavours without being overwhelming. Great with sushi – have a shot of this instead of the pickled ginger — or would be great as a palate-cleansing sorbetto.
The great thing about Tignanello from vintage to vintage is the purity of the fruit. While not as robust as the 2011, this vintage is dense purple in colour, showing great extraction. The nose offers light cedar, vanilla oak blackcurrant and cherry aromas. A beautifully poised wine, elegant and harmonious with a firm structure.
In the same way as its companion white, this full-bodied red is buried in oak for an entire year in the vineyard where the grapes were grown. Scientifically minded winemaker Mike Mainguy is skeptical about the process, but admits the wine emerges with additional complexity. This one shows developed dark fruit, coffee, chocolate and a whiff of dried herb on the nose. Bitter cherry, plum and dark chocolate flavours have a slightly smoky accent, somewhat aggressive acidity and dark fruit and chocolate on the long finish. Not everyone’s buried treasure, but worth a try.
Pale pink with aromas and flavours of strawberry, cherry, citrus and fresh flowers, creamy texture, finishing dry, clean and fresh. Excellent with grilled shellfish.
