This heady and potent Icewine shows concentrated lime cordial, apricot pit, brown butter and savoury whiffs of salt, lending interest and intrigue. Acidity is easily fresh enough to carry the silken palate of richly honeyed fruit, while citrus closes out the very lengthy finish. Try with foie gras.
Offers developed red berry–fruit bouquet elegantly sprinkled with cinnamon and a subtle whiff of oak. Generous flavours of blackberry and background redcurrant fill the mouth together with a splash of milk chocolate, vanilla and oaky dry grip on the finish. Robust and richly satisfying.
The 2nd release of Hine’s single-estate (Grande Champagne) Cognac, the 2006 Bonneuil is a very inviting, fruit-forward number with aromas redolent of dried apricot, sultana, baking spice-laced apple, vanilla bean and some sweet oak overtones. Warm and mildly spicy with nuances of apricot and subdued tropical notes, with cedar and floral nuances. Extremely well-balanced, with just a kiss of ground pepper end notes.
A medium bodied Pinot, showing aromas of strawberry, cherry and earthy notes before a palate of darker berry flavours and forest floor notes with a touch of savoury and a gently spicy finish. Excellent value.
This is the best Vermentino that has ever crossed my lips. The aromatic mélange of white peach, banana, lime, grapefruit, minerals and green apple is built on a medium-to-full-bodied frame. The palate is concentrated with excellent length and bright acidity. Grilled sea bass drizzled with olive oil and herbs would be a divine match.
Light ruby. Enticing, expressive nose of red berries and pastry cream, developing cinnamon notes. Noticeable acidity carries the light to medium body mid-palate. The very fine tannins have minimal grip, sustained by mild bitterness that brings a fruit stone’s character to the finish. Already great with a potential of 7 to 8 years.
It’s so nice to see different varieties being attempted in Argentina, especially from the cooler regions such as the high-elevation Uco Valley. This Pinot is quite earthy on the nose, with expressive black cherry, tobacco leaf and spice. The red fruits on the palate are delivered on a silky-smooth frame with notes of cedar and a hint of pepper.
