This well-balanced blend of Merlot (32%), Cabernet Franc (23%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (23%), with Malbec (11%) and Petit Verdot (11%) rewards with intense red and black fruit over tobacco aromas, dried fruit and cranberry. The luscious but elegantly structured palate yields raspberry, red current and spice flavours wrapped in well-integrated, mainly French oak with balanced acidity and complexity through the lingering and juicy finish.
Shockingly delicious; the best Gamay I have tasted this year. It shows beautiful brambly and savoury red fruits, plums, herbs and underlying, but not intrusive, oak spice notes on the nose. It explodes on the palate in a riot of red and dark fruits, layer upon layer of fleshy fruit, with complementing spice, bramble and herbs.
Brisk and bright, this organic Frizzante from Veneto is 100% Raboso, affording the delicate pink hue. Tight strawberries, plums, violets, candied cherries are carried with a riffing acidity when chilled, which is how this apéritif wine is best enjoyed.
Bright and fresh with aromas and flavours of cherry, strawberry, currants and citrus, silky, elegant and balanced with a firm underlying structure and vibrant, dry, but fruit-driven finish. We all need to drink more rosé, and this wine is versatile enough to pair with just about anything and very pleasing to drink on its own. Emiliana’s Adobe wines are all sustainably produced with organically grown grapes.
I’m usually not a great fan of Pinot Grigio; there are too many insipid examples on the market, but this one has real flavour. Peachy on the nose, it has a mouth-filling taste of pear and peach with lively acidity. And the price is right.
Dark ruby. Pleasant nose, fruity with a bit of sweet oak. No sweetness in the mouth though; balanced acidity, the slightly dry tannins are well wrapped in fruity extract. A very decent glass of unsophisticated red from down under.
This is a well-made and refreshing cider with ripe notes of apple, pear skin, and just a hint of citrus rind to keep it refreshingly perky through the finish. It’s a nice beginning cider that shows the emerging Ontario style — dry, crisp and tart.
