A well-priced Vino Nobile with a dense ruby colour. A complex nose of cedar, cherry, spicy plum and smoke gives way to a beautifully balanced palate that’s dry and firmly structured. A seamless wine.
Very northern Rhône in style, it’s deep ruby in colour with a savoury-herbal nose of blackberries. It’s medium- to full-bodied, dry and elegant with black raspberry and liquorice notes. Nicely balanced with good length.
Complex nose of black fruits, blueberry, anise and some notes of torrefaction (roasting, toasting). The palate follows with an intense flavour, a thick texture and wrapped, finely grained tannins. Finish is firm with a good length. No rush to open this Bordeaux blend, even if it’s very good already.
Fullish, this Cab Franc is hugely floral with tobacco, cassis, raspberry, vanilla, earth, green herbs and cocoa. Fold in the tannins and 14.5% natural alcohol and there is enough structure to cellar over the next 5 years.
Lees aging (it’s “how we deal with island acidity,” says winemaker Daniel Cosman) brings remarkable texture to this distinctive Gris with orchard fruits, purity of flavours, structure and great fruit acid balance. Think Dungeness crab, clams or salmon.
Clear medium-deep lemon yellow. Complex nose starts with key lime, orange and mango aromas, then opens to peach, pineapple and a hint of old butter. Full-bodied with excellent acidity, tasting of tangy lime and other citrus flavours along with stone fruits. Good for a couple more years.
Wild Grace is not the winemaker but refers to “the rugged beauty of the landscape surrounding the Hawke's Bay vineyards.” Pale straw in colour, this Chardonnay has a smoky, toasty nose with spicy oaky notes; it's medium- to full-bodied, richly extracted with spicy citrus and apple flavours melded with toasty oak. A beautifully balanced wine.
