Tons going on in this very young, but hard-not-to-drink-now, rich, elegant, muscular, complex, delicious wine. Loads of ripe black berry, black cherry, wild berry fruit with mocha, fresh herbs and a touch of forest floor. Great structure, but ultra-fine tannins; the wine shows something new with every taste and continues to evolve the longer it’s in the glass. If you can, forget about this in your cellar and let time do its thing. Definitely something special. Only 1200 bottles produced.
An elegant nose of pear, stylish oak spices, apple crisp and citrus for balance. It’s rich and intense on the palate with caressing pear, apple and citrus and lovely oak spices that are just starting to integrate. I want to pair this with lobster from PEI and melted butter and garlic.
An oddball blend of Viognier, Colombard, Riesling and Gewürztraminer that makes for a pleasant little wine that’s a little off the beaten track. Loaded with lychee, clove, apricot, pear and honeysuckle. It’s the Gewürz that shines on the palate with grapefruit, spice, peach and a squirt of citrus. Something new to pair with Asian and spicy food.
A spicy and expressive nose of plump plums, warm summer cherries, currants and black pepper. The fruit is ripe and juicy on the palate and lifted by peppery spices. It’s smooth and soft through the finish. Classic pairing with grilled steaks.
Multiblend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Pinot Noir yields up-front cherry and strawberry before a bright palate defined by red fruit and good acidity for a clean end.
Pinot Noir is the winemaker’s Holy Grail and Ontario is beginning to make some stunning examples. Mature ruby in colour, Rockway’s Pinot has an earthy, cherry nose backed by a light oak note. It’s medium-bodied, dry, offering plum and cherry flavours with a spicy note and balancing acidity.
A well-priced claret from a great vintage. Dense purple-black in colour with a cedary bouquet of blackcurrants with oak notes; medium-bodied, dry with a savoury blackcurrant flavour; firmly structured. Ready for drinking now but will cellar for a decade.
