Clear, deep plum red, turning to garnet. Fairly intense nose of blueberry jam, cherries, violets, figs, black pepper and caramel. Medium-bodied with sour cherry and cranberry fruit providing juicy acidity. Will last another couple of years.
From 18-year-old vines. Bright red fruit up-front, strawberry and cherry, followed by a vibrant, sweet fruit, medium-bodied palate with firm toast notes through the finish.
Tawny ruby in colour with a high-toned nose of cranberries and raspberries; the fruit is sweet, balanced by lively tangerine acidity. It’s a versatile food wine that you could drink with grilled salmon or roast duck.
Dark ruby, purplish rim. Spicy nose of cinnamon, ripe red fruits, a hint of anise. Soft attack, supple and generous fruit. Velvety middle palate, long finish. Great to drink now and good for 5 to 7 years in the cellar.
A blend of Gewürztraminer, Riesling and Pinot Gris. Very pale in colour; almost water-white.
Deep amber in colour with a raisin, tea leaf, honey and dried apricot nose. Full-bodied, unctuous, very sweet, candied orange marmalade flavours. Well-balanced and a great length.
This wine comes from Crasto's Douro Superior estate, Quinta da Cabreira, where the inland intensity and roasting heat of the Douro is at its highest potency. This is a field blend of old vine Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and the intriguing Sousão, with a 1 year stint in French oak. The wood is felt, but matches the potency of the sun-drenched fruit. Leather, dried cherry, black plum, raspberry, resinous scrubby herbs and medicinal cassis is drawn slowly along a black pepper, schistous-textured palate. Young and tight still, this relaxes with a decant, and will be even more appreciated with 5+ years in the bottle.
