Classic California-style citrus, buttery toasty hazelnut and a dash of vanilla on the nose shifting to rich lemon citrus and tropical fruit on the palate. Subtle toast and butterscotch notes on mid-palate are balanced by lively acidity leading into clean citrus freshness with a touch of nutty butter on the finish.
50% Carignan, 30% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre from granitic soil. Dense purple-black in colour with a cedary, spicy, blackcurrant nose and a hint of dried herbs; medium to full-bodied, dry, blackcurrant flavour with savoury, herbal notes and a firm finish. Lovely, caressing mouth-feel. Highly recommended.
Pleasant nose of red and black fruits with a light, spicy touch. Fresh and supple, easily approachable, medium-bodied. Nice harmonious finish. Well done.
From Abensberg in Bavaria, Kuchlbauer Weisse is a surprisingly light take on the style, with nearly all of the individual components of flavour dialed back except for a bright, wheaty acidity which makes it seem even lighter on the palate. Nuanced bubblegum yeast character with an light woody aftertaste from local hops. Functionally, a quantity quaffer.
An obvious, oaky and upfront Chardonnay with loads of pineapple, mango, lemon, yellow apple and honey. The palate is creamy and buttery, with a strike of acidity which provides lift. Fine length. Pairs well with halibut or salmon.
Medium ruby, orange reflections on the rim. Enticing nose of small red fruits and well-dosed spicy oak. Velvety, smooth texture with a tight core of ripe fruit. Barely firm finish of good length, nice roundness overall and ready to drink. The taste of a mature wine for a song.
Some of the Fraser Valley’s most mature plantings show well situated Bacchus at its cool-climate best, with stonefruit and citrus on the nose before a lush, off-dry palate of tangerine and citrus and a lengthy close. Think Waldorf salad.
