Clear very deep garnet. Medium-intensity, complex and mature aromas of blueberries, plums, a little dried fig and tea. Medium-bodied. Still quite tannic, but otherwise well balanced. Cranberry and raspberry fruit is fading. Drink up.
The fruit, as sweet and dusky as it ever was, is now pinched with a twinge of balsamic, which tightens, squeezes and lifts this bigger Amarone-style red. This is a blend of Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Bonarda. After harvest, the grapes were placed on drying racks outside, where wind and the elements dried the berries and concentrated the flavours and sugars. Grapes lost approximately 30% of their weight in this process. After wild yeast ferment and MLF in French oak barriques, this wine aged for 12 months in new French oak. Very expressive nose of intense floral notes over light red fuits. Velvety mouthfeel, like a caress on the tongue that becomes firmer near the finish. The powerful alcohol (at 15%) is felt but there is no burning sensation. A fine expression of the Primitivo grape.
Celebrating its 30th year brewing craft beer, Great Lakes Brewery is unleashing its full lineup of finely crafted, award-winning IPAs in celebration of the big b-day. Octopus gushes with juicy, sometimes musty tropical fruits, with a hefty dose of earthy pine resin. Try it with a spicy mango salad; the fruity notes will find harmony, and the big bold bitterness will amp up the spice factor.
Gorgeous effusive and alluring nose filled with roses followed by elegant, firm and intense flavours of currants, leather and mineral notes, wonderful concentration, velvety mineral-laden tannins and a long, flavourful finish. Great match with mountain cheeses and braised meats. A great example of how a wine can be outstanding without being heavy.
This is the finest Pinot I have tasted from Haywire, such purity of fruit on the nose with earthy red berries, barnyard, cassis and black licorice with a lighter hue in the glass. It’s just gorgeous on the palate with rich red fruits, herbs and savoury/earthy notes all carried on a bed of smooth tannins through a finessed and juicy finish.
Up-front citrus notes before a vibrant lemon-lime palate underpinned by bright acidity before a clean, zesty finish.
