5 Tips for Picking the Perfect Suit

By / Life / July 13th, 2017 / 1

Tip #1 – The Right Colour

In an ideal world, everyone would have a charcoal suit, navy suit and black suit in their closet. But this isn’t an ideal world and suits are expensive. Each colour serves a different purpose:
Charcoal is casual, classic and suitable for work, lunches with clients and informal dates or events.
Navy, like charcoal, is casual, but more modern. It is polished enough for more formal situations than charcoal.
Black is sleek and formal, perfect for black tie events, weddings, formal events, galas and other dressier occasions.

Patterns are also an option. You could grab the classic pin-stripe or go for the more dramatic patterns like houndstooth, plaid or herringbone. Really, you should only branch out into patterns once you have one each of the three base colours. But ultimately, it’s up to you.

So, the first step is to figure out when and where you’ll be wearing your new suit the most, and pick the colour (and pattern) accordingly.
