Brilliant Books Monthly

Price range: $99 to $295

Finding new books and authors is a difficult challenge for any book worm. You never know if that novel with the fantastic cover and interesting synopsis is actually going to be interesting. Or if it’s just blessed with great marketing experts.

That where Brilliant Books Monthly really shines – when you sign up, you complete a preference card, which will then be given to your dedicated bookseller. This person is an expert in finding books that suit specific tastes. You know that you’ll enjoy each book you get in the mail – and you’ll receive one a month for the duration of your subscription!

“There is no ‘formula’. We’re booksellers,” explains Peter Makin, Owner of Brilliant Books. “Finding the right book for the right person is what good booksellers do, and we only employ good booksellers.”

If the books they send you aren’t quite to your tastes, you can contact your dedicated bookseller to discuss. “We work primarily from the preferences card, and also from the on-going feedback we receive,” says Makin. “Occasionally, we will contact the subscriber directly to discuss books they particularly liked or didn’t like to better gauge their tastes.”

They have a wide variety of services available. You can get a year of hardcovers ($295), paperbacks ($185), large print ($295), YA books, Middle grade, Chapter books or picture books ($225 each). Or, for about $100 less, you can get six months of each of those categories.

If, at any point, you find you have too many books coming in and not enough time to read them (not possible, I say!) then you can pause the service until you’re ready for more books.

They ship all throughout the US as well as to Canada, the UK and Australia. However, customers do have to pay for international shipping.
