Mature, nearly opaque deep mahogany colour. Huge nose hits you as you draw near the glass: plums, then kirsch and golden raisins. Flavour is dominated by black cherries, balanced with an interesting dash of herbal bitters and some spice from the oak. Has a tonne of fruit without being jammy. Ready now; won’t get better. Luscious with roast duck and braised kale.
Bright pale yellow. Aromatic nose of white fruits, a touch of asparagus and a nice minerality. Fresh attack; balance is on the acidic side with a light body. An intense and persistent fruity taste finishing on a dry minerality. Very nice on a warm day as an aperitif or with white fish.
This elegantly labelled white is a benchmark for consistency and polished style. Scents of tropical fruit, peach and citrus shift towards more dominant peach on the palate. Vibrant acidity, appetizing minerality and lingering ripe fruit complete the picture.
Aromatic and lightly honeyed yellow fruit show pear, melon and overtones of tropical fruit. Citrus note emerges on the palate with lively acidity, gravelly mineral and lingering fine fruit on the finish.
Red fruits with warming overtones of cinnamon and a suggestion of ground clove on the nose, with red cherry flavour showing an agreeable touch of bitterness. Smooth through the mid-palate backed by appetizingly dry tannic backbone and a food-friendly dry finish.
Already shows plenty of developed vinosity and complexity on the nose, though not quite as forward on the palate. Offers characteristic Appellation finesse with fine cherry fruit and spice, but needs more time to soften.
Valpolicella is one of those red wines you can chill or serve at room temperature. Deeply coloured with a spicy red-berry nose and an intriguing note of ginger. It’s dry and elegant, unlike any Valpolicella I’ve tasted; beautifully balanced .
