Wine, Food and Fun in Newfoundland

By / Magazine / January 15th, 2009 / 1

Statistics released by the Newfoundland Liquor Corporation show that wine has been growing steadily in popularity in Newfoundland in recent years; in 2006 table wine out sold rum by volume for the first time ever.

Nick Hender, owner of Grape Expectations, is hoping that this trend continues. Operating since August 2008, Grape Expectations is focused on removing some of the pretentiousness that surrounds wine, and helping people to overcome any intimidation that may limit their enjoyment of fine wine, fine food, and even gourmet cooking.

Grape Expectations offers wine tasting parties, seminars on wine and food matching, and cooking classes, all in the comfort of clients’ own homes. The business serves the entire northeast Avalon region of eastern Newfoundland.
