Michelin Star chef Andrew Pern’s first book, Black Pudding & Foie Gras, has won the Best UK Chef Book award at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2008. The book will now go on to compete for the Best in the World title with other successful books from around the globe.

Black Pudding & Foie Gras is Pern’s culinary autobiography in which he showcases many of the dishes served at The Star Inn, his restaurant in North Yorkshire (including the title dish). Threaded through the story is a description of how his life has consistently revolved around food. At home in the kitchen or on the coffee table, the 400-page book offers a good selection of recipes as well as photography by Antonio Olmos and Sam Bailey.
