Top 6 Food Blogs of 2016

By / Food / June 1st, 2016 / 28

I love reading about food. Finding inspiration for my next cooking experiment (which are few and far between I admit), isn’t all that challenging now that the internet has exploded with food bloggers, foodies and all things delicious. What is challenging is finding the right kind of inspiration – these six food blogs are a constant source of yummy, easy-to-make and unique recipes that are sure to keep your daily meals exciting (and healthy)!

My Name is Yeh

Simply looking at this blog makes my mouth water. Her vibrant, eye-catching photos invite you to try out the recipe, even though I know I could never make mine look so good. Molly Yeh’s recipes are inspired by her jewish-asian roots; while dominated by dessert and sweets, like these Matcha Oreos, there are a few scrumptious looking savouries and drinks peppered in for you culinary experimentation.

My Name is Yeh received Blog of the Year and Readers’ Choice for Best Baking & Desserts from the Saveur Blog ’15 Awards.

Brooklyn Supper

This is a blog for the seasonal foodie in all of us – Brooklyn Supper focuses on helping readers understand how the seasons and ingredients change throughout the year and what to do with them. Written by husband and wife team, Brian Campbell and Elizabeth Stark, it has a recipe for every season, with easy to download and share recipes.

Brooklyn Supper received the Editors’ Choice for Most Delicious Food from Saveur Blog ’15 Awards and was a Top 10 Finalist for the Better Homes and Gardens Blog Awards 2016.

Chocolate + Marrow

The photos on Chocolate + Marrow belong in a magazine, they’re that good. Each image catches the eye while the blog posts themselves make you smile. Blogger Brooke started the blog in 2014 as a space for creating and sharing recipes; now it’s her platform for sharing the things that inspire her cooking. Her experiments with different recipes, like the Black Garlic Ice Cream, are entertaining, to say the least.

Orangette

Updated weekly, Orangette is written by Molly Wizenberg, a Seattle-based writer, author of Delancey and A Homemade Life, and restauranteur (she and her chef husband Brandon Pettit own and operate three restaurants – Delancey, Essex and Dino’s Tomato Pie). Molly’s posts about her struggles with cooking every day and cooking with a young child are very relatable – it’s nice to know even food bloggers face these challenges!

Orangette received the James Beard Award for Excellence.

Minimalist Baker

Sometimes I don’t want a complicated, ingredient heavy recipe. That’s where the Minimalist Baker blog comes in handy. Authors Dana and John, a wife-husband team, prepare recipes that require 10 ingredients or less, one bowl or one pot and 30 minutes or less to prepare. Their Cheesy Jalapeño Corn Dip was a huge hit at my last party.

Harvest

One of the most unique website designs of the lot, Harvest focusses on home grown ingredients and local food sources. Blogger Renée Kemp shares her inspirations – from the articles and blogs she’s read to conversations she’d had with people in the industry. I’m excited to try her Sprouted Flour Bagels.

Harvest received the Editors’ Choice for Best Photography from Saveur Blog ’15 Awards.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
