Feel Good Deal

Here’s a sweet deal I thought I’d mention.

The Children’s Wish Foundation and Maison Cousin have collaborated on a program whereby $0.25 from each package of specially marked Maison Cousin’s French and Belgian baguettes sold will be donated to the Children’s Wish Foundation. Food is vital to life; so, the fact that these two organizations have come together to support such a worthy cause is significant. Everyone deserves to experience the good things in life at least some of the time. Do your part.

If you’re not familiar with the Children’s Wish Foundation, it’s an organization that fundraises with the express purpose of allowing very ill children to live out their dreams. Since 1984, the Foundation has made over 15000 dreams come true across Canada. For this particular funding drive, the Foundation and Maison Cousin are directing as much of the money raised as possible to realize the dreams of two children from Quebec. Gabriel is six years old and suffers from cirrhosis of the liver. He needs a liver transplant; but dreams of traveling to the Bahamas to experience the animals, birds and butterflies. He’s hoping to swim in the ocean, too. Elmira is nine years old and dreams of swimming with the dolphins. She’s a cancer patient who, despite returning home, must continue her regular hospital visits in an effort to keep the cancer from returning. Drawings made by these two children will grace the specially-marked packages of bread.

Maison Cousin products (made without preservatives) are mostly available in Quebec; but, don’t let that stop you. If you’d like to help, contact the Children’s Wish Foundation www.childrenswish.ca to make a donation.
