Instagraming your meal isn’t a new phenomenon; in fact, it used to be a joke that many sophisticated foodies would laugh about when discussing social media over a fine meal.

Now, it’s one of the most common Instagram posts – there are over 228 million #food post and 26 million #foodstagrams (and counting) on this visually focussed social media platform. We all do it. And why not? After all, restaurants and chefs pride themselves on their plating skills. Ensuring your foodgrams turn out great however, isn’t always as easy as point-and-click.

That’s why I’ve asked Ryan Hinkson for his tips for foodgrams. Hinkson is the food curator behind @eatfamous. He has over 262,000 followers and consistently snaps delicious images of the most gluttonous dishes in Canada, so he knows what will get people to give you a like. He’s also immersed in the foodie culture – this September, he will lead a group of hungry travellers as their eat their way across Southern Europe for his upcoming foodie trip organized with Contiki Holidays.
