5 Tips to Instagram-worthy food pics from Ryan Hinkson
Get the light just right
There’s a reason why professional photographers have a wide range of lighting options set up in their studios – and why they’re constantly shifting their subjects around when they’re out of their studios. Lighting is one of the most important (and difficult) elements to get right when taking a photo. “Good, clean, natural lighting is your best friend and should be your prime focus,” says Hinkson. “Too much direct sunlight casts nasty shadows. Look for some shade or shoot when there’s some cloud coverage. There is absolutely no substitute for natural light.”
