Long Weekend Drinks
We are mere days away from the 2nd long weekend of summer (in Ontario anyway) … a mid-summer point that allows us all to sit back, relax and reflect on the summer that has been and the remaining summer days ahead …
Sounds kinda heavy if you ask me.
But there is a way to lighten the load on your mind … a nice summer bevy will do quite nicely thank you very much. And I have put together a list of a few inexpensive recommendations to while away your summer holiday hours.
Deakin Estate 2013 Shiraz, Australia ($9.95)
At this price I was expecting much less, but got more than I bargained for: lots of chocolate, raspberry and white pepper; this is a beauty for the BBQ you’re going to have on the weekend.
Alpine Valley 2013 Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand ($14.95)
These days good Sauv Blanc can cost you a pretty penny, but this one won’t break the bank and it gives you all the flavours you’ve come to expect from this Kiwi staple.
Hooper’s Cloudy Lemonade, England ($3.65 / 500ml)
No, this is not a wine, you did not read this incorrectly: “Cloudy Lemonade” is not a sweet Mike’s Hard knock off it has a real lemonade flavour, it’s tart and refreshing … think Country Time meets Goldilocks – “not too tart not too sweet, it’s just right”.
