By / Wine + Drinks / May 16th, 2014 / 1

Put away your winter whites and pull out those linen pants, sundresses and bermudas. Here in Canada, the last Monday before, or on, May 24th is a holiday AND the unofficial start of summer. Celebrate with this classic summer cocktail – the Margarita.

½ ounce orange liqueur (Cointreau, Triple Sec)

1 ½ ounces fresh lime juice

1 tablespoon sugar syrup

Lime wedge

Kosher salt

Spread salt in a thin layer on a small plate.

Rub the rim of an 8-10 ounce glass of your choice with lime wedge.

Dip the moistened glass rim in the salt and coat lightly.

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice and sugar syrup.

Shake for 30 seconds and strain into pre-prepared glass.
