Bring it in with Bubbles

By / Wine + Drinks / December 31st, 2014 / 2

I don’t have to tell you to go get a bottle of sparkling wine for tonight, do I?

This is the time of year, and for some the only time of year, they pop open one of man’s greatest inventions:  sparkling wine.  The bubbles that tickle the tongue and cause a swooning effect in many women … a wine that makes you happy just to be alive by the sound of its cork coming out of the bottle:  “POP!”  I know I can’t wait for midnight.

If this truly is your only bottle of bubbles this year make it count with one of these:

Louis Roederer Brut Premier Champagne ($69.95)

This is what you dream of when you think Champagne:  great acidity, bready-biscuity notes and those fine elegant bubbles.

Taittinger Nocturne Champagne ($73.95)

This one comes off a little on the sweeter side, could be the four-year ageing, but in the middle you’ll find apple and pear filled croissant wrapped in fine bubbles.

Bollinger Special Cuvee Brut Champagne ($75.95)

The wine of double-O-seven, and man does that guy have taste; this is a beauty of a bubbly that will just have you sipping away all night and well into the next morning – when I spy a bottle of this on the table I make a bee line right to it.
